Sensitive, smoochy boy
Large Male Greyhound Dog
Niles is the kind of dog who leaves a mark on everyone he meets. He’s had a tough adjustment to life after racing, but his determination to conquer his fears and live a happy life is truly inspirational. He’s a big sweetheart who proves that your past doesn’t have to define your future.
Niles is an open book. You can read every emotion on his face; happiness, fear, excitement, confusion and joy. His expressions are almost cartoon-like and it makes him impossibly cute and very photogenic. He’s a sensitive, smoochy boy who loves affection. He likes to be as close to his humans as possible and will often bury his head into their chest for a cuddle. He takes some time to warm up to new people, but is always sweet and gentle. He prefers that new people let him come to them when he is ready, and avoids head pats until he is comfortable.
Niles is king of derps. You know he is happy when he roaches on his back, tongue lolling out the side of his mouth like the goofball he is. When he’s really excited he will treat you to a ‘zoomies’ show, running as fast as his can, legs flying at all angles. He likes to make sure he has an audience for this routine, so they can clap and cheer him on.
He’s conquered many fears during his time in foster care, but he is a still work in progress. He is a fairly nervous boy, particularly around other dogs and children. Niles’ new owners will need to continually work with him to help with this fear. Cheese is a great motivator.
Ideally, he would suit living in a rural/quiet environment where he is away from the hustle and bustle of suburban life. He dreams of days spent lying in a big backyard, with nothing but a loving family and roof over his head to make him happy.
No cats, dogs or children under 12 please.
