At just over two years old, this goofy girl embodies joyful toddler energy. She plays big, loves big, and snoozes hard! Ready to challenge the stereotype on greyhounds being a quiet breed, she loves a chat and will share her opinions with you in a series of interesting vocalisations (however she is not a barker, preferring to communicate on a more civilised level over yelling).
Although she’ll be right by your side snootervising your activities when you are home, Peaches is confident to snooze when you’re away, but you will need to be prepared for the most amazing greeting ritual upon your return! There will be squeaks, happy mouth snappies, big waggy tail, and even a little wiggle dance - choreographed especially for you, to remind you how very loved you are! This affectionate snugglebug also loves to sneak behind you when you sit down on the couch and curl her whole body around you in a hug, her specialty cuddle monster routine.
With her curious brain and higher energy levels, Peaches loves toys and puzzle games. She’s a big foodie so enjoys opportunities to forage, but you don’t need to invest in expensive Kongs or other items, a handful of treats and couple of loo rolls or an egg carton can easily keep her occupied. This will also help curb some of the thievery she engages in if there is nothing else to do. Hats and shoes are her favourite, and you’ll find these promptly relocated if pilfering Peaches is at a loose end (like any young dog, fun “found” toys often get chomped in excitement, so delicate items are best housed in cupboards that can be shut).
Described by her foster carer as an “11/10 at home” (she eats well, sleeps through the night, knows to go to the toilet before bed, shares the couch and her toys without issues, and is such a beautifully natured dog), Peaches does struggle with the great big world outside, particularly when there’s lot of noises like scary traffic. She may benefit from a calm canine companion to help her gain confidence, but her new home should be prepared that she finds play and zoomies around the yard much more enriching than going a leashed walk - she is currently capable of just a quick ten minute stroll before she becomes anxious and wants to return home. Every day she grows more curious and brave but she is a work in progress and needs a patient person.
Although walks are a bit scary right now, drives in the car are so much fun! She happily gets in and out of her own accord, and travels like a pro. Her foster carers have been taking her to the local dog park and she is very curious and enjoys watching the other dogs run around (although is a bit shy and not ready to jump into boisterous play), she also visits our stalls at the Farmers Market and after hellos to all her human and hound friends she likes to observe the hustle and bustle from the boot of the car, and happily hunkers down with a fellow snoot to snuggle.
Peaches dreams of a house with a yard in a quiet suburb, where her people love to play, and there’s a cosy lap or two to curl up in. She has so much love to give, and all she asks for in return is a little patience while she learns the world isn’t so scary.
