This little snuggle-snoot lives for a close encounter! There is no gap she cannot conquer from the smallest sliver of a shared dog bed, to an inch on the couch, if Yogi can see a space she’s joining you for a cuddle. Currently living with another female hound she loves to use as a pillow, Yogi insists that a canine sibling who enjoys sharing is a must her forever home (she is social with medium to large breed dogs, and enjoys off lead play with the family kelpies).
More bouncy bean than couch potato, Yogi regularly initiates play, loves her big sniffaris, and really enjoys foraging activities. She has a busy mind and would thrive in a home that can dedicate time to play, puzzle games, and training. She can be prone to making her own fun if she has not had sufficient enrichment and activity to help drain her energy, so she’s not a great match for someone looking for a set-and-forget kind of hound. In her forever home, Yogi may enjoy trying out a sport or group training class, even if she doesn’t have the aptitude she’ll give it 100% enthusiasm.
Yogi is stair confident, but still needs a little boost into the car (if you lift her front legs she’ll do the rest). She can be a little spooked by large crowds or noises, but a confident canine offsider helps her to shake things off and move on. Due to her energy levels and preference for quiet/calm walks, we think Yogi is best suited to life in the suburbs, a nice house/yard as opposed to apartments or busy areas.
As she first settled into foster care, Yogi was anxious when left home alone, even with another dog for company. Although she’s become more comfortable with being left a few hours, she’d prefer a household where her humans are around more often than not. She just loves her family so much, she hates to be separated (she even does a routine called “the mountain goat” and leaps onto the couch when her humans return to be the perfect height to receive her cuddles). Due to her loving and gentle nature, she might also adapt well to life as a shop dog or an office assistant - if there’s a human to snootervise and better yet clients to cuddle, she’s set.
This gorgeous girl will make a wonderful addition to a loving home.
