If there's one thing Charlie loves, it's people, being with people, and being involved in whatever they are doing. He has an almost unshakable belief that everyone on the planet simply must feel the same way about him. This cheeky chops will insert himself into any and all interactions with people and other dogs. He loves his adventures to cafes and visiting friends
When you are home, Charlie prefers to spend the time in your company. Not quite a couch potato, on top of games at home and assisting with the recycling, this energetic pup lives for his two walks (of around 20-30 minutes each) a day, and does need to check out the smells, investigate interesting things in his environment and say hello to absolutely everyone he encounters so you wont set a cracking pace. In his foster home, when his humans are out of the house at work for several hours he is happy to chill with his foster brother, another greyhound. He barely moves from his bed if there are not humans at home.
On his walks, Charlie would prefer to meet smaller and medium sized dogs as well as calmer greyhounds. Some larger breeds are a bit intimidating for him. In a social setting he is good with most dogs.
Charlie has conquered stairs, happily jumps into a station wagon and toilets on request. Charlie does also enjoy curating collections of oddities he finds about the house, so if you're missing a sock, some underwear, towel, or even a pillow, you can bet Charlie's tucked it into his bed for safe keeping.
He would do well with another dog who is patient with his "HERE'S CHARLIE" routine, often barging into the middle of any cuddles or pats that are happening, there’s no party without punch. He would appreciate a home where his humans are prepared to provide stimulation with play and adventures. Charlie doesn’t like being home totally alone so would suit a family who are home more often than not unless there is another dog.
Charlie has had part of his tail amputated. As the happiest waggiest boy his tail was injured and wasn't healing so he had a very common procedure to shorten it and it is now all better (and still just as waggy!).
Charlie is a dog with big feelings and some separation anxiety. He is currently taking Fluoxetine (a common anti anxiety medication) as well as Trazodone on occasion to help manage his transition into a new environment.
A gorgeous boy, inside and out, with an energetic affectionate spirit - he will make a wonderful addition to a home who will enjoy keeping his busy mind occupied and delight in his antics.
NOTE: Charlie was adopted over a year ago and was cherished by his adopter but unfortunately she passed away, we were able to assure her that he will always be loved and cherished in our care.

GUMTREE GREYS ADOPTION PROCESS:
Step one submit our online application form, you can nominate a specific dog or express your interest generally
Step two a Coordinator will touch base via email to set up a phone call so we can get to know you a little better, and help to find your pawfect match
Step three once we have made a match we’ll reach out with the details, and to set up a meet and greet
Step four pending a successful meet, we will touch base via email with our Adoption Guide, any relevant handover notes, and a request to finalise payment of the adoption fee ($350) and sign our trial agreement
Step five start your two week adoption trial! On handover day we will drop off your precious cargo and their gear (collar, Gumtree Greys ID tag, lead, food, coat, and toy), you will also receive an email inviting you to ‘Petcademy’ (Gumtree Greys provides our adopters access to unlimited messaging with certified behaviour professionals and a library of over 100 hours of video content for training advice). During the trial period your Coordinator will touch base to see how things are progressing, and assist with any settling in issues. At the end of two weeks if the trial is successful you will sign your adoption agreement and we will complete the paperwork to transfer your dog into your name via the GRV Microchip Registry.
In the unlikely event a trial is not successful, we take the dog back into care and will refund your adoption feeStep six lifetime support and community access.
