When she hears the rattle of house keys or her lead, Ursula (or Ula, as her foster carers affectionately refer to her) is up and ready to go! She’ll wag her tail for the duration of her walk, enthusiastic to be in the great outdoors - a far cry from the timid girl who arrived in foster care, not very keen on going far from home. While she is still getting used to busy areas, she loves her walks in quiet areas such as along Merri Creek. There is lots to explore so expect some zig-zagging around to get all those sniffs in, and she is very partial to collecting a good stick along the way.
Passing by other dogs calmly is not a problem for this little lady, but sometimes Ursula finds having to pause her walk to greet a bit boring, and she’ll give you a bark as though to grumpily declare she’s done with being held up thank you very much! Let’s get this show on the road.
A true bouncy bean, Ursula has developed a post walk witching hour in the afternoons, when she gets home she’ll ping pong around for ten minutes with a flair for mischief and melodrama. Abandoned hair brushes, discarded remotes, and anything made of cardboard is fair game when “Hurricane Ula” hits, but engaging in the game and introducing more appropriate toys helps redirect her energies to more productive pursuits.
In the evenings, Ula’s final form is the couch goblin. Despite valiant efforts to teach her to relax on her own bed, her foster carers have been thwarted, so a forever home where she is welcome up for a cuddle is a must!
Ursula is in foster care as an only dog with her humans home more often than not, she is learning to be alone while they run errands but would not thrive with people who worked out of home full-time. Having spent time in her trainers home alongside her sister, Sadie, she would be happy to share her forever home with a confident greyhound who could help her build up her bravery bank.
With her curious mind, puppy-like exuberance, and enthusiasm for engaging her people in play, little Ula will bring so much joy to patient people who will understand that sometimes a chewed up remote is the cost of having a really fun time.
