Underneath the puppy-dog eyes and sweetest face is an even more soft and gentle temperament. Nicknamed by her foster carers “Thumbelina”, little Lena is a tenderhearted lady who just adores people, children, and other dogs of all sizes. She is a lover, not a fighter, and is so kind and sweet to everyone around her - happy to share her toys, treats, and space, Lena’s greatest joy is the companionship of others and an opportunity to be part of a family unit.
Although she is the embodiment of a ray of sunshine, this golden girl moonlights as a shadow, preferring to follow her humans around the household and supervise all the goings on. As she has settled into foster care her anxiety with alone time is much improved, but Lena would thrive in a home with humans around more often than not (or the ability to accompany her people into the workplace where she could make even more friends!), and another dog is a must. She is such a social dog who just wants to be around others, being left behind is not her idea of a good time.
Out and about Lena is calm and confident, lovely on lead, unfazed by loud noises, and happy to say hello to everyone with a big waggy tail. She is a fantastic companion for errands and adventures alike, and loves a drive in the car.
With a moderate amount of energy, Lena is most active first thing in the morning and then again in the afternoon. She does fancy herself an alarm clock and will come trotting in to boop you in the face as though declaring “come on, it’s a beautiful day, let’s go have some fun!”. 2 x 30-40 minute walks, some zoomies in the yard throwing her toys around, and a food puzzle for breakfast or dinner is all it takes to ensure the rest of the day is spent snoozing.
An aspiring curator, Lena loves to arrange collections in her bed, and invites you to come and marvel at her treasures - this is a tactile experience and of course you are welcome to touch and handle these precious items. She doesn’t mind that you relocate these back to the strange and random places humans scatter their objects, for collecting them once again is half the fun! Don’t worry though, unless the item is a bit of pilfered cardboard from the recycling bin, she will treat it with the utmost respect and care.
