Harry’s Happily Ever After…
…from High-Rise Hound to Family Favourite
After five months in foster care, city slicker Harry has finally found his forever family!
Harry had been living the high-rise life with our long-time foster carer, David, on Spring Street. He quickly adapted to apartment living, becoming a calm and confident companion who handled home-alone time like a pro and turned heads at local farmers’ markets with his gentle, friendly nature. Despite his impeccable manners, it took longer than expected for the right home to come along.
Harry’s first adoption didn’t work out, a busy shared house proved too stressful, but he took it all in his stride and waited for his next chance. That chance came when sisters Renee and Annalise, who already shared their home with two greyhounds, Maizi and Carmi, applied on behalf of their dad, Terry. Recently retired, Terry decided it was time to have a greyhound of his own, and Harry seemed like the perfect match.
A meet-and-greet was arranged for Father’s Day weekend, but Terry had to rush to Queensland for family reasons. Harry still met Maizi and Carmi while Terry watched the introductions via webcam. Harry and Carmi became instance friends and while Maizi took a little while to relax, Harry’s calm charm won her over.
When Terry finally met Harry, they bonded instantly. Not long after, wild weather damaged Terry’s home, and he temporarily moved in with his daughters — along with their two greys and Harry. Once repairs and renovations are complete, Harry will move in with Terry permanently, completing this lovely family story.
From David’s loving care in a city apartment to a home filled with greys and family, Harry’s journey reminds us that every hound eventually finds their perfect place — sometimes it just takes a little patience and a few happy twists along the way.
Each greyhound has their own special story: meet the ones still waiting for their happily ever after.
